Feng shui principles at home

Feng Shui fundamentally is about the concept of Chi, a life force or energy in your home. Similar to Chinese medicine chi flows through the body, in Feng Shui it flows through your home. It also helps to bring harmony into your home. Read on for tips to create a better flow in your home.

Clear your clutter
One of the simplest ways of applying Feng Shui principles in your home is to get rid of the clutter.
Unnecessary items in a home can clog energy and can also lead to loss of energy in yourself physically and mentally. By having a clean and uncluttered home, we promote health and vibrant energy. So if you are feeling a little lacking in energy, have a good clean out of your home, it will do you the world of good.

Balance in bedroom leads to better relationships
Placement of your bed in your bedroom is very important. Be careful not to place it facing a window, where all your energy will flow out of the window. Your bed should have a clear view to the door and most of the room, this is called the commanding position. If you are in a relationship make sure you have matching bedside tables and same size lamps, as this symbolises equality in the relationship.

Harmonious meal times
Large tables are best, but not too big for the space. Oval or round shapes allow for good flow of chi. If you have a rectangular table, then balance it out with other circular shapes, such as a rug or chairs with a curved back. Add in a mirror and lots of light, as well as healthy plants. Place an even number of chairs around the table with a solid back.

Lastly, donโ€™t let your dining table become a place of neglect as they often become the household โ€œdumping ground.โ€ Clear the clutter and create an appealing environment where you can share meals and conversations with your family.

Air and Light
The key to positive energy in your home is airflow. Open your windows often and use an air purifier to keep your home fresh. Abundance of natural light is best and if you have a dark corner, light a candle or position a lamp there as dark spaces represent areas of neglect in certain areas of your life.
