After starting my career with another agency, I eventually made a move to Noel Jones. I had gotten to know a few agents there, and they had all spoken highly of the culture within the business and the one-on-one support that the directors and the wider leadership team provided in an ongoing capacity to nurture development and individual success. Another appealing facet was the boutique size and nature of the business. I have now experienced first-hand how it feels to have the ability to contribute to decisions that directly affect my work practices and environment. This level of buy-in increases overall staff engagement in a way that is rarely seen in larger, multi-tiered businesses.
It was three years ago that I joined the Noel Jones group, working as a solo agent; I now run a highly successful team with two staff, and our momentum continues to build. There are several factors that I believe contributed to this growth. When starting out, I had the unwavering support of my peers, many of who took me to their customer appointments and subsequently put me as the second agent on their listings, allowing me to re-establish myself, something I am now able to do for other agents making their start in the industry. Another thing that sets the Noel Jones group apart from other agencies is their range of bespoke training programs which are tailored to each specific role within the business; a number of these also focus on staff wellbeing as they recognise work-life balance can be challenging to achieve in such a dynamic industry.
Has it been easy? No, and most recently, the emergence of COVID-19 has forced both me and those working within the industry to adapt rapidly whilst evolving our practices to meet the demand of buyers and vendors alike, something that the directors and the leadership team facilitated seamlessly. Has it been worth it? Yes, and with the continued collaboration and support of those within my office and across the wider Noel Jones network, I’m excited about the future and what it could hold.
I have worked within the Noel Jones business for 8 years, in that time progressing from an entry-level role as a sales agent to my current position of director and business owner.
Before joining the Noel Jones group, I was a salesperson with another company and my career was progressing well there. However, I often looked “over the road” and admired the Noel Jones brand, which had a distinctive presence; they also displayed an innovative approach to marketing that seemed to be ahead of the pack.
When I was given a chance to work with them, I didn’t hesitate. It was an opportunity I embraced with both hands, and it’s true to say that since I arrived, I have not once been disappointed. The culture, the ongoing training, and the support from both the leadership team and my peer group culminated in creating an environment that was even better than I had imagined it might be. On top of this, the sharing of resources and information between not only sales team members in my office but also those in the wider Noel Jones network was warmly welcomed; this level of camaraderie was not something I had experienced before.
Noel Jones has a strong presence in the local area, with a number of successful and established community partnerships in place. This has earned the brand a great level of respect amongst residents and has provided me with the opportunity to enter some long-standing relationships with buyers and sellers, building upon a level of trust that was already established.
In recent years, both the corporate and interoffice support has grown immensely to provide a wide range of quality resources - both digital and printed materials - that have been tailored to assist with a range of things, including listing presentations, buyer management and of course, social media. The use of these across our entire network allows cohesion between offices and a baseline where the bar has been set at impressive heights.
To have the ongoing support of a robust brand, a great team culture, a clear career path and a strong appetite for continued growth and success, the move, whilst daunting at the time, is one I’m thrilled that I made.
