Doncaster East Mansion Hits New York & International Spotlight Following Noel Jones Launch

A private opening night held last night at 4 Saxonwood Drive, Doncaster East has put the Melbourne suburb on the international property radar, with the launch of the home already generating coverage from Mansion Global, New York, the global luxury property arm of The Wall Street Journal.

The residence, which features its own automotive gallery, a two-level glass wine room and more than 2.5 tonnes of hand selected Italian Calacatta marble in the kitchen alone, was unveiled to guests from Melbourne’s business, sporting, property, automotive and community circles at an event that brought a multimillion-dollar collection of prestige and classic cars to the street, alongside Italian food and wine.

Noel Jones Director and selling agent Daniel D’Assisi said the level of interest, both locally and from international buyers and media, reflected the calibre of the home.

“To see a home in Doncaster East attract this kind of global attention says a great deal about where the market for this calibre of property is heading,” Mr D’Assisi said. “This isn’t a home we wanted people rushing through in a crowd. Now that opening night has passed, qualified buyers will be given individual 45 minute private appointments to experience the residence properly, as part of its Expressions of Interest campaign.”

Built by Dican Developments founder Dino Cantone, a second generation Italian builder and developer, the residence features ceilings approaching four metres, three separate living zones and commercial grade floor to ceiling double glazing framing adjoining parkland.

Below the principal living level sits a four-car automotive gallery designed as an extension of the home rather than conventional garaging, with a lounge and study overlooking the collection and internal glazing connecting the cars visually with the residence above. Alongside it, a glass wine room extends across two levels.

At the centre of the kitchen is one of the home’s most technically demanding features: more than 2.5 tonnes of Calacatta marble, selected from a single block sourced from the Carrara region of Italy, cut, shaped and hand polished by specialist Italian stonemasons to create the appearance of a continuous sculptural form.

Mr Cantone, who regularly travels to Massa-Carrara in northern Tuscany to personally source stone for his projects, said the international response to the home reflected the level of craftsmanship on display.

“You see where it comes from, you select it and you know exactly what you’re bringing into the home,” Mr Cantone said. “There are materials and craftsmanship throughout this property that would be extremely difficult to recreate at this scale today.”

Mr D’Assisi said the reaction to Saxonwood Drive underlined the broad appeal of this pocket of Doncaster East.

“The level of material, scale and detail speaks for itself once you walk through the three-metre pivot door, and clearly that message is now travelling well beyond Melbourne,” he said.

4 Saxonwood Drive, Doncaster East is offered for sale. Private 45-minute inspections are now available to qualified buyers by appointment.
