If you wish to establish yourself in a suburb where period homes are complemented by tree-lined streets, then Camberwell might be the place for you to call home.
Housing
The original Tara Estate is still one of Camberwell’s most favoured pockets with many Victorian and Edwardian homes in the area boasting beautiful heritage gardens on substantial parcels of land. In later years there has been the appearance of more dual occupancy homes and townhouses, many designed with a modern palette in mind and most recently, urban style apartments to appeal to young professionals, downsizers and investors.
Shopping and Dining
The stunning homes throughout Camberwell are just part of the attraction. The Burke Road and Camberwell Junction precinct offers an extensive shopping strip that has a variety of retailers, popular restaurants, trendy cafes and bars. The art deco Rivoli Cinema is a local icon and is well known for showing a variety of arthouse and festival films as well as more mainstream offerings. There is also the colourful Camberwell market which is held every Sunday and is a fabulous place to just browse or to pick up an array of vintage and retro pieces.
Public Transport
Public transport is plentiful; there are 4 Train Stations within the borders of the suburb with Camberwell being the largest, located at the top of the Burke Road hill. Three tram lines also converge at Camberwell Junction and local buses run to a variety of popular destinations. The Monash and Eastern Freeways are both easily accessible for those who prefer to drive.
Parks and Recreation
The landscape of Camberwell is also peppered with many beautiful churches making it a popular suburb for weddings as there are many lovely places for photos both here and in neighbouring suburbs. Lynden Park and Highfield Park add to the greenery of Camberwell and provide open spaces for families to enjoy, whether it’s for sporting pursuits, a BBQ or a general catch up with friends.
Camberwell really is a suburb with something for everyone and a wonderful place to call home.
