Ways to welcome spring into your home

Melbourne winter being confined to our homes, we are now getting to the other side – where we are close to coming out of lockdown. We are finally able to greet spring with some positivity and hope on the horizon. Here are some ways we can herald in the new season.

Open all windows and let the fresh air rush in, circulating and taking the stale air outside. Weโ€™ve had windows closed for most of the winter months to keep us warm, so no that the temperature is on the rise and we have more sunshine, there is nothing more refreshing than to invite the warm air inside.

Clean your windows inside and out. This will make the view outside so much more appealing. Take your time and do it over a period of a couple of weekends. Turn to natural methods such as distilled vinegar to give a streak free finish.

Change up the colours in your living room. Put away the warm toned, winter throws and cushions and swap them for lighter, fresher aqua toned cushions and cotton throws.

Bring in some of the spring blooms from your garden and place in a vase on your dining table or for larger branches, use a tall cylindrical vase and place on the floor in a corner. The scent will enliven the space as well as provide some prettiness. Alternatively some greenery from your garden, such as palms or eucalyptus branches catch your eye and make a simple arrangement.

Clear away the clutter from your kitchen benchtop. Take everything off and give the surfaces a good clean. Then only put back the things that you love and that are necessary. We tend to plonk things on the benchtop that can be put away. Not only does this create visual clutter, but makes your kitchen benchtop appear smaller.

Do something as simple as having your morning coffee outside. Taking your coffee or breakfast outside and sitting on your patio or deck while enjoying the fresh air on your face can uplift you for the day. I recommend the next morning when the sun is shining, step outside and soak up all the goodness that spring has to offer.
