Minimalist Luxe Styling For A Breezy Spring

Design trends come and go (and then come back again). But if there’s one style that encapsulates the carefree, sunny nature of spring, it’s luxe minimalism.

So what is luxe minimalism, you might ask? It’s a laid-back, yet subtly opulent style that instils a confident sense of calm in the home while celebrating the splendour of fine craftsmanship and luxurious details.

The trick to achieving this sophisticated yet restrained look is embracing texture and a natural, uniform palette, with a focus on interesting accents and pieces.

Pare back to achieve the minimalist look. It’s a great excuse to spring clean and remove the knick-knacks, furniture and pieces that no longer sing to you or you don’t need. It’s about appreciating  space, so uncluttering is crucial.

The focus is on texture (imagine linen curtains and a handmade-tile splashback) and shape and form (a curved wall, hanging pendant lights or an oval table), which all imbue luxury.

The beauty of this trend is its simplicity – you don’t need to overthink the pieces you keep or buy too many things. Stone and wood play a fundamental role, whether it be for benchtops, furniture, flooring or cabinetry. Craftsmanship and organic materials from nature take the limelight.

When it comes to colour, a palette of whites and creams, with shades such as ivory, vanilla, eggshell, porcelain and beige, are pertinent for everything from paint colours and couches to rugs and tiling. Gold and copper are impeccable accents for taps, handles and mirrors. Adopting these natural colours with fancy details brings a sense of calm and sophistication.

Splashing out on only one or two unique or artisanal pieces is pivotal to nailing the luxe minimalist style, which also makes sense for the bank balance. A striking light or chandelier, a marble benchtop or perhaps a curved couch speak to opulence. You only need one of these things to bring together this refined style.

The concept of less is more, or the saying that the devil is in the detail, rings true for this refreshing trend. Luxe minimalism uses texture, monochrome, natural colour and sumptuous details. In short, it’s the perfect style for a dreamy, easygoing spring and beyond.
