What’s it like to live in Ringwood?

Those who know Ringwood in Melbourne’s outer eastern suburbs will be aware of just how far its come in the last 12 months and why it’s becoming a sought after suburb.

Land sales in the area began back in the 1850s where land owners used their plots for grazing, fruit growing and making bricks. With the construction of the railway between Hawthorn and Lilydale in 1882 came the growth of the township with churches, banks and schools being built to accommodate for the growing population.

Fast forward to 2016 and Ringwood is quickly becoming the heart of the outer east. Eastlink and an abundance of public transport links, including the Frankston to Melbourne Airport Smart Bus, cater for all types of travellers to any number of destinations.

The recent Eastland Shopping Centre expansion has resulted in new employment opportunities along with a broader shopping experience for those who reside in the area. Locals have also welcomed the much needed Town Square which boasts a variety of signature restaurants amidst an alfresco dining and socialising area.

One doesn’t have to travel far to find greenery and bushland. Ringwood and surrounding suburbs offer an abundance of parks and reserves and of course, Ringwood Lake. If living amongst the gum trees is on your wish list there are plenty of properties in the area that boast their own bushy gardens. And for those who want to get away from it all for the day or even a weekend, the Yarra Ranges is just a hop, skip and a jump away.

If you’re thinking of moving to Ringwood or surrounding suburbs you’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to properties. Families can choose from generous sized homes set on blocks large enough for the kids to have a game of backyard cricket. Couples, retirees and singles might be more interested in the new townhouses and apartments that are cropping up in central Croydon and Ringwood.
