Seasonal styling tips for winter

When we think about winter we conjure up images of warmer colour palettes, soft timbers, inviting fireplaces and comforting sofas. In essence creating a warm and cosy interior.

When presenting your home for a winter sale it is important to play to these senses, creating an environment in which one wishes to linger, therefore increasing the likelihood of your buyer emotionally attaching to your property.

Here are some seasonal styling tips for you to try in your home:

Colour – The use of warmer colour tones such as corals, rusts, teals, warm pinks, and mustards will create an inviting atmosphere when combined with the use of bright neutral tones such as beige, cream and white.

Lighting โ€“ Winter can make darker aspects of your home more prominent. Add table lamps and floor lamps to create welcoming rooms. Always use warm โ€˜yellowโ€™ light rather than iridescent โ€˜whiteโ€™ light bulbs. Ensure every light is turned on at your open for inspections to create a warm and inviting ambience.

Rugs โ€“ When selecting rugs, think about the type of pile and texture that would suit the room. Homes with large tiled areas will tend to feel cold in winter, so adding soft pile rugs will greatly transform the space. There is nothing quite like lying down on a soft pile rug in front of a fireplace in winter.

Soft furnishings โ€“ The addition of cushions and throws make for an inviting sofa. To really make an impact consider using cushions in small groups of colour and texture. Layering cushions in different shapes (square, lumber and circular) will keep it fresh.

Comforters/throws โ€“ If youโ€™ve always wanted a fur, now is the time to add lux furs or chunky knitted throws to your bedrooms. Think about the use of rich warm colour and texture to create some โ€˜wowโ€™ in the bedrooms.

Texture – Texture plays an important role in decoration. Much like colour the use of texture can influence how warm or cold a room feels. To add warmth think about the use of neutral fabrics, warm cognac leathers, sheep skins, rustic timbers and soft brushed metals.

Dรฉcor โ€“ Decorating side tables and mantels with books, textured vases, timbers and plants will add to the winter appeal of your home.
Donโ€™t be afraid to try and above all have some fun with it.
